The pay as you go option and convenient access with local parking on the Green is attractive to the editor as an occaisional member and local resident who can pop in, shower and dress from home quickly

If you have a tendency to gain weight gradually without noticing and then try to lose it periodically but resolve to keep it steady this convenient venue could be right for you. The editor is an ‘air breather’ i.e. an aerobic ‘panter’ (as opposed to an ‘anaerobic load-pusher’ who just wants to maintain his expandable waistline rather than change his basic shape 🙂

Definitely worth a visit!

Cottingham tv’s Work-out Guide to becoming Healthy, Wealthy and Wise in 2016

You’d better shape-up!

Make these tips your New Year’s Resolution!

Myth-buster #1: you don’t have to be wealthy to grow your wealth!

Just don’t leave your savings in a big 4  bank!

The Art (and the philosophy) of economical living: the longest journey starts with a single first step!

It’s the little and the big things that matter! Look after the pennies.. look after your health!

We’ll start with becoming wise, as you’ve got to wise up and grasp the nettle and smell the coffee before you can begin to shape up financially – and shape-up health-wise to be able to enjoy the benefits of being in financial shape!

The world is a profoundly unfair place*, with undue rewards placed on those who can manage their finances and undue penalties placed on those who can’t!

With these few basic tips, learn how to become prosperous

learn how to live within modest and humble means!

There is a widespread belief held by Socialists that money doesn’t count, isn’t important – ask their past Chancellors! “I come from a long tradition of politicians”, one of whom recently admitted, “where they can’t and don’t add-up!”

The clock is ticking towards your retirement – act now! Take back control of your finances!

Wise-up and watch your wealth grow!

There is a widely-held belief that living maxed-out in debt is good for you! Don’t be fooled! Cut up those credit cards and stay in credit, not debt!

Make money out of the banks: don’t let the banks make money out of you!

Learn how to live more economically: don’t smoke, don’t drink, don’t shop ‘till you drop on your plastic cards without being able to pay them back in a couple of months, don’t run a brand new car on credit, don’t holiday abroad on credit! Don’t over-indulge yourself on credit!

Marry the right person

– have a pre-nup!

Get your inheritance managed financially before the crunch comes!

The only winners at the end of the day are the banks, the State – and of course the lawyers! #PleaseNotThem

Don’t use the high street banks to hold your savings – they make a fortune out of the poor, the un-wise and the old!

Buy Gold to save long-term, not PEPs!

Supervillians: this week we’re featuring the dreaded dyno-sprout!

Fear not: sprouts really needn’t taste awful!

Follow our step-by-step guide and you too can produce veges that you and your kids will actually like!

One of the problems with the well-known purveyors of “fast food” is that they too understand our preferences and especially the younger mind with it’s shorter route to gratification! We need therefore to make good ‘slow food’ more accessible like fast food! If you’re watching MacDonalds, here’s an autumnal serving tip for you!

Learn how to emulate their tricks using healthier fresher ‘un-processed food’ ingredients with our step-by-step guide ..

Our series continues with some flavorsome additions

We’ve given ourselves a 90-minute time frame for scheduling the cooking into a ‘Brussels away match’ with quarter-time, half-time and three-quarter-time sequenced activities – and even allowed ourselves 10 mins extra time for penalties!

Showing you how to bake your vegies rather than boil them to death!

Continued ..

Tips for midnight fridge-raiders .. keep a plate of roast veges under cling-film in the fridge – this will stop them drying-out

Continued ..

continued ..

continued ..

continued ..

Dyno-sprouts on the vine can be twice as big as their smaller relatives served-up in-the-bag .. the final reckoning is to cut them in half so they will cook within the 45 minute time-frame allotted – without requiring extra-time!

Final stages – finishing touches

At cottingham.tv and with Halloween Festivities in mind, we’re having a ‘kindness to carrots’ day!

How to enjoy eating your greens – even if they are orange!

Vegetables needn’t taste awful -with these few basic cooking tips from Cottingham.tv you too can make them taste great!

Vegetables needn’t taste like medicine – as something that has to be endured rather than enjoyed. In fact, the Victorians had a dreadful old maxim: the worse a medicine tasted, the more it did you good. Indeed our puritanical, no-frills approach to food preparation and cooking still persists today out in the regions!

How to avoid murdering your vegetables to death!

continued ..

Despite all the TV cooking programs out there, in this northern region and I’m sure in many others, our 1970s school dinner-style fried or boiled mentality persists where children are made to eat their greens and clear their plates!

Even your kids will like them!

continued ..

Here at Cottingham.tv we’ve added an autumnal twist so you can enjoy eating your greens! continued ..

continued ..

it’s better for you, better for the kids and better for the carrots!

continued ..

continued ..

N.B: If you want separate carrot servings, after grilling your carrots on an oven tray under an open oven red-heat grill for 20 minutes as described, you should leave them in a closed oven covered in cooking foil with some added boiling water on 150 degrees for a further hour to cook them through thoroughly – you can add other vegetables as described. Remove smallerveges when they are browned!

Pumpkins are “squashes” like aubergines and courgettes and they will also respond well to this kind of cooking – but please note they have shorter cooking times – but you need to experiment!

Happy Halloween from Cottingham.tv!

Providing Your Gateway To Accessing Health Care In Cottingham and District

Castle Hill Hospital

Has the ‘art’ of patient clinical diagnosis been lost in a series of bureaucratic and ‘scientific’ tick-box exercises in our hospitals?

Lincolnshire Trust in Special Measures, BBC July 2014

United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust remains in special measures

Are our overworked physicians (hospital doctors) spending too little time looking at and talking to patients and too much time filling-out forms and carrying out tests blindfolded?

One of the main things that has transformed Medicine in the 20th Century has been the introduction of Scientific Method into medical treatment and diagnosis; another has been the introduction of scientific management practices to manage or rationalize healthcare for all. Examples include budgetary accounting procedures and performance targets and measures including the statistical analysis of hospital patient death rates (see link above).

Put another way: have ‘divide and conquer’ Western clinical methods of diagnosis inadvertently provided a “race to the bottom” in the rush for the mass provision of uniform standardized healthcare?

It has been recently reported that nurses for example have been so rushed by tick-box objectives that they have little time left to talk or respond to patients on an individual ‘holistic’ basis. Ward matrons have been introduced to counter this.

Our seats are slowly killing us!

Vehicle seats

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-32069698

The seat we are familiar with is also being radically improved!

The editor has a further interpretation of the sit or stand to work dilemma: he has been developing as an inventor a patented dynamic posture seating  system that allows us to maintain balance whilst sitting and keep our trunk muscles active.

The statistics are quite worrying: Americans spend over 100 hours commuting to work   every year and when they do get to the office, they spend a further 6 hrs x 5 days x 50 weeks = 1500 hours mostly sitting at screens – and several more hours per day sitting whilst watching tv!

With obesity steadily increasing, we need to seriously reconsider our lifestyles if we are going to out-live our parents in terms of life span!

Our parents led more active lives which required more physical and manual activity – but we have with the advent of automation and computing become too sedentary!
